Rebecca Adlington Wins Olymic Gold, Awarded a Pair of Gold Jimmy Choo's
Rebecca Adlington, the UK's 19-year-old most successful Olymic swimmer in a century, not only won Gold in Beijing, she picked up another gold prize when she returned home. Her home town awarded her with a pair of golden Jimmy Choo shoes according to Marie Claire.
Rebecca won gold medals for the 400m and 800m freestyles in Beijing. She broke the world record for the 800m, swimming's longest running record.
When Rebecca Adlington returned to her home town of Mansfield the streets were filled with adoring fans and neighbors as she rode through the town on an open top bus, with her family.
A press conference was held for Ms. Adlington where she expressed her surprise and gratitude. "I wasn't expecting this. To come back with two gold medals is just amazing."
Perhaps, the Olympic double Gold Medal winner was equally surprised when the town's mayor Tony Egginton awarded the swimmer with a pair of gold Jimmy Choos, worth £490.
Rebecca responded, 'I loooove shoes. I want one pair for every outfit. I've got well over 30 pairs but you can never have enough.'
